I became Anorexic for Instagram

05:53
"You look great! Have you lost weight?" - I was always a little bigger than my friends, but hearing that comment drove me to go beyond the extremes of losing weight; I became anorexic. These days, being skinny or "fit" is the new pretty. Even on Instagram, those that are skinny or in workout clothes get the most likes because that's what is deemed "beautiful". We constantly compare ourselves to these "beautiful" individuals making it our goal to get to where they are. Everything from dieting, becoming gym junkies, skipping meals, or even plastic surgery. As we continue our quest, no matter how hard or how much we view the mirror or whatever compliments we receive, it's never enough; I'm still fat. Anorexia Nervosa is a mental illness eating disorder with the person having a strong desire to be thin, creating unhealthy eating habits and harming the individuals' overall health. Signs of Anorexia are (not limited to): - Low body mass index - Restricting food intake - Excessive use of Laxatives, diet pills, and purging food after meals. - Denial of body image - Obsessive fear of obesity are amongst the limited signs of Anorexia. By sharing this story with you, we hoped we have informed and helped you better understand this illness. We know every story is different and every person is unique. Please feel free to share your stories with us. As always, we appreciate all the feedback and hoped we have better informed you.

I Saved a Stranger and Her Daughter

07:16
When we see others in trouble, society tells us that we should leave it alone and mind our own business. People think that it's what everyone wants when in truth, if people need help, they're mostly just too afraid to ask for it. So if the people who can help all mind their own business and the people who need help are too afraid to ask for it, how are we supposed to help each other? How are we supposed to grow as a society? As the story submitter says, "we should ALL do what we can to help others that are vulnerable and in a less fortunate position than we are. It’s the right thing to do in a civilized society." It really, really is. Thank you for submitting your story to us!!

The word "No" made me into a billionaire

06:06
Investors told me my idea was "dumb" and "wouldn't work". I grew up poor and had to work my entire way through college. Seen as another welfare statistic, I made it my goal to give back to those who deserve it most. Love or hate a cup of Starbucks Coffee, the origins of the person responsible for their successes has a much more humble and heartfelt story that you are sure to love. Howard Schultz grew up poor. His family were hard-working Americans that fell on hard times and made lived by the paycheck to support the family. Although this may have been a minor setback, it left a scar on Howard Schultz who always remembered the difficulties his father went through. Although he was Vice President for a company, he dropped it all to expand his vision for the working American people. No, not Starbucks Coffee. Providing basic human necessities to every working employee from the very bottom to the top. Health insurance, Dental Care, 401k retirement, and even adoption assistance. Instead of holding onto the idea for profits, Howard Schultz decided to give back to those he could; his employees. Now the 232nd richest person in the world, and having built the 5th largest food chain, he still remains humble and hopes no working individual ever has to go through what his family did. We hope you enjoyed this video! Please let us know your thoughts. #starbucks #originstory #minutevideos

I Went From Bullied to Billionaire

08:27
I was beaten by other kids, laughed at by rocket engineers, told to my face that my ideas wouldn't work. But as I went through all of this, I kept my head high and continued to stare at the stars never stopping in my dreams to create a better world. Elon Musk knew from an early age what he was put on this Earth to do; to advance humanity for the better. From an early age, Elon was brutally bullied because he was a nerd and many thought he might have been deaf because he'd daydream and ignore his surroundings. He always knew he wanted to change the world, but to do this, you need a substantial amount of wealth and influence. So, once he made his first million as a Silicon Valley techie, he was unstoppable. Risking nearly all of his own money, he built a rocket company, (SpaceX) from scratch. Soon after, Elon Musk became CEO of Tesla Motors creating the first viable, fastest, and mass-produced fully electric cars in the world. A role model for many around the world, this is how Elon Musk went from Bullied to Billionaire. Just remember, it’s not about how smart or rich you are, it’s about how much you’re willing to persist, believe, and overcome your challenges that defines your successes. It may take months or even years, but in the end, you only lose when you give-up. So keep moving forward, look up to the stars, and chase after what you want. Don’t give-up on yourself. I Woke up in a Stranger's Apartment

10:32
Sometimes things can seem so dark, so grim. You can try to do everything in your power to turn it around but it just feels like everything is against you. This is a story from a subscriber Camila that is exactly that. She was born into a situation she couldn't get out of and all the pain led to one bad decision after another. Her mother treated her horribly by physically, emotionally and mentally abusing her. Her mother was so consumed in hated for her father for cheating and leaving her so she took out all her anger out on Camila. She had no chance. She sought abusive relationships to make up for the pain she was going through. When you grow up in an abusive environment, it's all you know and understand. Some people think it's all they deserve... Which is not true. But because of her abusive parent, she developed BPD, Borderline Personality Disorder. It means she struggles to control her emotions. BPD is a very complicated disorder. Don't worry, we are currently making a video about it that should be out soon. She may have been put in this position when she was born. She may not have had a choice but in the end, her father came through and lifted her out. You will always be able to find help. Whether it's family, friends or even the local authorities. There is always hope. There is always a solution. Camila, thank you for sharing your inspiring story with us. For those who are suffering in the same or similar fate, contact another family member, a friend. Find a solution. You are not your shortcoming. No one deserves to be treated like this.

They had the perfect family. But even the most perfect family can have their dark hidden secrets. It's not until something really bad happens that anyone finds out and can help. Global estimates published by WHO indicate that about 1 in 3 (35%) of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. And not just that, do you know that children raised in a chaotic, abusive environment are seven times more like to grow up and repeat the same behavior as adults. So this vicious cycle continues. But women all around the world are standing up for themselves and other women showing everyone that any kind of abuse is no longer going to be tolerated. Don't let it get this far.

I Created Adidas

06:18
After being drafted to war at 17 years old and surviving, I managed to create one of the most recognizable brands in the world; Adidas. Being a pioneer of his time innovating sports shoes and creating a product that worked, Adi Dassler's love for sports and motivation to better athletes, sports, and the game pushed him to change the way we would view and wear shoes. This is the story of Adidas and how one man changed sportswear and fashion forever. Welcome to the Origin Series. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a student or just someone who is trying to their place in the world, we present to you some of the most inspiring and motivational people that have changed the world. We hope their stories have impacted you like they have for us. Adidas got their humble beginnings from the simple idea that no sport should use the same shoes. After surviving 2 World Wars and constantly being told that my ideas wouldn't work, he continued to change the sporting world by innovating and changing the shoes that athletes wore. Being the first of their kind, Adi Dassler first changed track and field by adding spikes to the bottom of the shoes to increase stability and grip. Thinking about it, it's obvious that it would work, but during those years, it was a radically new idea. No one believed in his idea or product. Not until the 1936 Olympic Games when Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals and his shoes took the world stage. Adidas continues to innovate and develop new technologies in sports and casual wear. Creating iconic shoes for athletes and worn by celebrities, the famous 3 stripes continues to define generations through expressions of athletic wear and fashion. A Doctor's Error Almost Killed Me

06:46
Type 1 diabetes affects millions of people all over the world; most being children. Type 1 diabetes is when our blood sugar levels are too high from low levels of insulin. In short, insulin helps the cells in your body absorb the glucose (sugar). Without it, your blood will be overrun with high blood sugar levels leading to heart, eyes, kidneys, nerve, and gum damage because your blood is too acidic. This is known as Diabetic Ketoacidosis or DKA and if left untreated, it could be life-threatening. Your body begins destroying itself from the inside out. This is what happened to this person due to a misdiagnosis at the hospital. At 10 years old, you don't really think much about your body. In fact, we all think our bodies are invincible at that age jumping off the playground, scraping our knees and brushing it off as if it was a small paper cut. But for her, she knew instantly that she was not well. Dehydration, thirst, frequent urination (peeing), and headaches are just some of the symptoms she felt all at once. When visiting the hospital, the doctors took her symptoms as a virus and told her to rest at home. But the reality was, her blood was growing more acidic by the minute because her body was no longer producing insulin. As she got worse her quick thinking mother grabbed a glucose meter and knew instantly her daughter was in danger of dying within hours. Rushing to the hospital doctors hooked her up on machines and rushing to control her acidic blood levels. Luckily, they were able to control it and she survived, but not with a catch. For the rest of her life, life all type 1 diabetics, she would have to monitor and inject herself every few hours a day. On top of this weight fluctuations, headaches, and tiredness will be with her for the rest of life and at random times. For most Type 1 diabetics, your life revolves around the needle and glucose meter, but it doesn't have to. You don't have to hide behind the needle and screen anymore. You can proudly say you have this disease and that's fine because you will rise above it. Don't let a disease (or any) take advantage of who you are, what you're capable of, and what you want to accomplish in life. You may have to walk an extra 10 steps than the person next to you, but those extra steps will only make you stronger and make you appreciate every step more. Don't think of it as the end to your life but the beginning of a new challenge that you will overcome. Thank you for supporting our channel and all of your support. This is another story about a girl who had grown up with no self-esteem just because she doesn't look like the famous women on magazines and Instagram. She made the mistake of telling her crush that she loved him and he just ridiculed her and made her feel even worse. For a long time, she lost hope. But eventually, she realized she had to just let him go and let go of all the negativity that came from him. She realized she had to be proud of who she is and learnt that being confident about ourselves will always help us up anytime we fall.

I Survived an Airplane Crash

06:43
Sucked out from the airplane and falling 2,987 meters (9,800ft) from the sky, Juliane Koepcke miraculously survived her freefall from her disintegrating plane crash. Spending 11 days in the Amazon rainforest, at 17 years old, she had to remain mentally strong gathering all of her strength and her will to survive. A true story, Juliane only had 1 shoe and 1 eye to see out of. Being separated from the entire plane wreckage, she knew she had to find her way out if she wanted to survive. The thick Amazon rainforest made it difficult for rescues to find the plane, let alone her! She tried so desperately to find her mother, but in her fragile state, she had to worry about herself first. Not knowing if she would ever be found, she took a chance and followed a river hoping it would be her shot at finding people. Her gamble paid off when she managed to find a resting post where the next day, people found her and quickly transported her to a hospital. Out of 91 passengers, she is the only survivor of the Lansa Flight 508. She not only survived a plane crash but survived it falling nearly 3 1/2 Burj Khalifa's (tallest building in the world) without any life-threatening injuries and survived 11 days on her own in the Amazon rainforest. Showing the will to survive, her story shows us how strong, resilient, and determined someone can be when faced with the most difficult challenges.

The Girl Across My Table Called Me Ugly

03:39
This is a story about a girl with very low self-confidence. She looked in the mirror and didn't see the image she had hoped and the spiraled out of control with the realization that she wasn't as attractive as some people are. It took her a while to realize that it really is about how you look on the inside and not how you look on the outside. Everyone has flaws, you just have to learn to live with them. You may not be Angelina Jolie, but the secret is realizing that no one (except her) is! So accept yourself and love yourself no matter what! ❤️

My First Boyfriend Emotionally Abused Me

06:16
What if your first boyfriend was manipulating and emotionally abusing you without you even knowing it? Unfortunately, this happens more than you think. Emotional abuse is very different than physical and does not have to happen in a relationship (boyfriend/ girlfriend). It can happen with a parent or friend with only their words. Emotional abuse is not to be taken lightly. It is important to know that emotional abuse is not when someone breaks up with you, yells or raises their voice. Often times, the person being abused doesn't even know it. They believe all problems are their fault, even when it's not, and mold themselves to what their partner wants them to be changing who they are and often times, isolating them from friends and family members. Emotional abusers will criticize and manipulate someone to do things they want. They will shame and blame someone with verbal abuse often yelling with hostility. They will name call, refuse to communicate and isolate someone from their closest relatives and friends. These are just a few small examples of emotional abuse. It may seem small, but if you know someone going through this, please reach out and help them by supporting and encouraging them to seek help. The best thing you can do, is support them. If you have any stories you feel can help others, please submit them to www.minutevideos.com If we choose your story, we will draw and animate it so that you can also help others out there with your words and experiences. My Pain Has No Cure

08:41
During her first semester in college and studying for her finals, a strong and powerful headache hit her. The pain was so bad and lasted all day and night that she was unable to sleep correctly for nearly 2 weeks. What she thought was just stress from studying so much turned out to be a rare and painful disease called Trigeminal Neuralgia. As a freshman, you want to do well and prove to yourself that you deserve to be at the school you're at and that you can move to the next level in your life. For days, she studied hard trying to remember her lessons and prepare for her exam. At first, she thought her head was hurting from something small like lack-of-sleep or just a minor headache. But later, her headache became worse eventually forcing her to go to the hospital. From the outside, her doctor thought it was dehydration, but after being sent home, the symptoms became worse. Pushing through her finals week, she managed to complete the exams, but at a cost. Her health was not in a state of emergency. She didn't know it at the time, but she had Trigeminal Neuralgia, one of the most painful diseases in the world. Her nerves all around her face and head are extremely sensitive forcing her to feel pain 24hrs/ day. Unfortunately, there is no cure and for most, they'd rather end their life than go through the excruciating pain. Although extremely painful, she continues to fight and hide her pain while in public because no matter how difficult things get, you must fight on. About the disease: Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from your face to your brain. If you have trigeminal neuralgia, even mild stimulation of your face — such as from brushing your teeth or putting on makeup — may trigger a jolt of excruciating pain. Because of the variety of treatment options available, having trigeminal neuralgia doesn't necessarily mean you're doomed to a life of pain. Doctors usually can effectively manage trigeminal neuralgia with medications, injections or surgery. Please remember to take care of your health and yourself. Sometimes you have to push yourself, but you should never harm your body to reach any goal. There is a fine balance between achieving goals and being careless with the one life and body you have. If you ever need help, if you ever feel stressed and if you ever feel alone, please remember we care. I Have Borderline Personality Disorder

10:13
Talk to a psychologist online: http://bit.ly/BetterHelpCounseling Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Don't get this confused with bi-polar disorder. BPD is a condition characterized by difficulties regulating emotion. This means that people who experience BPD feel emotions intensely and for extended periods of time, and it is harder for them to return to a stable baseline after an emotionally triggering event. Those who suffer from BPD can feel like they are disconnected from reality. Almost like you are in a video game and even though things around you are real, you don't believe it. Many times, intense emotions like come up from nowhere and your perfect day is all of a sudden ruined by a traumatic breakup or death in the family. This may sound easy to "get over", but if you have BPD, it is a continuous loop that slowly brings you down and isolates you from friends and family. This is what happened to one of our anonymous followers who has been struggling with BPD his entire life. It has destroyed many of his closest relationships and even made him black out and become somebody else in front of his girlfriend. He also gives us a very detailed description of the symptoms and what it's like to live with BPD. If anything in this video resonates with you, please reach out to someone and always make sure to stay safe. Please know, you are not alone. Even if those around you don't believe you or say you are exaggerating, we believe you; our followers believe you, and you will get better. We are not physicians, so if you feel you may be suffering from BPD, please consult a physician. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Help will always be waiting for you if you ask. Stay strong and don't give up. We thank you for supporting our channel by subscribing. We try very hard to bring you content that brings positivity and help those who need it. Have You Ever Compared Yourself To Others?

04:06
Whether you admit it or not, you probably have or at least had compared yourself to others before. If so, it probably either felt really good or really bad right? Well, comparing yourself to others have a more negative affect that you even realized. The point is that we are all beautiful in our own way and we all have and don't have things that can be so so different than other people. If you spend all of your time looking at what other people have, you're missing out on all the awesome things that you do have! If you spend all your energy focusing on other people's lives, you're losing energy that could be better spent on building your own life! Everyone walks a different path and are given different opportunities. Everyone accomplishes different goals and fails at different challenges. We all have different dreams. The most important thing is to find what makes YOU special to yourself and focus your energy on that. Oh, it's also important to share it with us in the comments ;)

I Had a Panic Attack in Class

04:33
This is a story about a girl who struggled since she was 12 from PTSD and Panic Disorder. What can a 12 year old be stressed about? Her parents fought a lot, they had struggled with her custody and she ended up having to live with her father who was a very loud and aggressive man that always yelled at her and when she finally was back with her mom she was in constant fear of being taken away again. Such an unstable childhood can result in so many issues that don't just appear later but already pop up when you're a child.

He Leaked my Private Pictures

02:53
When a guy asks a girl to "send pictures", a girl has two options. She can either trust him and believe that he won't ever hurt her by exposing her to the entire world. Or she could hold back and risk being called names or worse, being dumped. There's nothing wrong with sending "pictures" to someone that you love. How I Made $1 Billion

06:55
A self-taught computer coder created Instagram in 8 weeks selling it for $1 Billion dollars. This is the Origin story (formerly Guess Who) of how Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger made one of the most successful social media apps in the world. Learning from the two, they both took an enormous risk in pursuit of an idea. Each quitting their jobs to make their idea come true, they had no idea if they would succeed or fail. But during a time when mobile applications were beginning to grow, they took a chance and went full in. Posting photos on social media with your phone sounds like such a simple idea, but their idea was so much more than that. They revolutionized the mobile phone industry showing the need for better cameras and stronger software to process photos. Before Instagram, a mediocre photo would do just fine. After Instagram, a well-taken photo is everything. Kevin Systrom graduated from Standford University. While in his undergraduates degree he interned at a tech start-up, Odeo, where he would eventually meet the founder of Twitter. During this time, he began to feel an itch; the entrepreneurial itch. He wanted to create something of his own. He quit his job from Google and devoted everything to his mobile app idea. Bringing aboard his good friend Mike Krieger, the duo spent a relentless 8 weeks building an app that would eventually be bought for $1 billion dollars by Facebook. Staying true to their original community, Instagram is still the number 1 photo sharing application. Everything from food, travel, beauty, and personal blogs can be seen on Instagram creating an entirely new community. The next time you open your Instagram app, just remember, Instant\ telegram = Instagram ;) If you liked this Origin Story and want more, please show us your support by subscribing to our channel. But this time, they didn't just rekindle their friendship but found something that was buried much deeper within that had been planted there since they were kids. My Husband Left Me Before I Got Rich

Inspiring us how to help those in need, to never give up, and always continue your journey no matter the uncertainty or doubt, the author, J.K. Rowling almost didn't write Harry Potter. Filled with disappointment, depression, homelessness, and a single mother, she was lost and had no idea if she would even survive. This is one of our favorite people. Not only is J.K. Rowling's story inspirational and filled with motivation, but she is also a generous and authentic person. Throughout her hardships, her struggles, and depression, she managed to follow her passion and become hugely successful. But, she never let that success get to her head. She has remained humble and always remembering her difficult path, continues to help those around her through her stories, charity, and life story. J.K. Rowling is the first billionaire author in the world. But her path was never easy. Filled with disappointment, depression, homelessness, she was lost and had no idea if she would even survive. She always knew she wanted to become an author, but people kept casting doubt that a career as an author had little money. Fighting between her passion or choosing something else became one of her biggest struggles. It didn't get easier. After he mother passed away, J.K. Rowling found it difficult to live her life with any happiness. Even when she had a glimpse of her new baby girl, things just became more difficult and dark. She fell into a deep depression feeling as if life and happiness had been sucked away (Dementors). She even thought about suicide until she thought about her daughter's life as an orphan (Harry Potter). She quickly found help and after going to her sessions regularly, found the courage to finish her most creative and world-famous series, Harry Potter. It's no surprise Harry Potter has some similarity to J.K. Rowling's actual life events. Even now, as Harry Potter helps his friends, she helps hundred through her generous donations.
